Thanksgiving Break
Soooo... How was your break?
For the next day or two, I do believe just about everyone will feel the need to ask me that question at some point.
For the time being I will continue to answer in my usual manner. Smile a positively lovely fake smile, nod my head for some odd reason and say "oh it was nice." Which it was in many ways. In other ways though, it was a touch of hell.
First of all, you have the different situations that I am coming home to.
1. My older sister is very very sick. This makes me nervous and tense because this means she'll be all moody, not that that is anything strange, it just means that she has an excuse now.
2. I do not have a job, and all of my friends either didn't come home, or they will be working all weekend, resulting in extreme boredom for me.
So let me recap my break for you:
Tuesday: I got home around 1:30. I enjoyed having a little time to talk to my mother before Julie got home, then me and her, watched the first half of the Polar Express while my mother went to the hospital to pick up my older sister. The day was rather dull, but in the evening, I was sent over to visit my grandmother, who recently suffered a stroke, and is now residing in the nursing home. I angered her by not being able to understand exactly what she was trying to say to me, and she turned her back to me, and would speak to me again through the duration of my visit. It was quite depressing. When I got home, my sister's boy friend had come over, and my sister made a bit of a show of ordering me around for a little while. Then Julie became angry with me because I did have time that night to take her to see Happy Feet yet. So I had both sisters on my case, and my grandma was angry with me. I locked myself in my room and went to bed quite early, right after watching House.
Wednesday: More monotony. I helped my father repair the electric fence we have for Sparky, that had been broken when he put in his truck driveway. I actually enjoyed it, I love working that tractor. Then I attempted to get a hold of one of my friends, because we had made plans to hang out that night, though what we were doing hadn't been decided on. I stayed at home, until about 7pm waiting for her to return my call, however I haven't heard back from her until... let's see... today! Needless to say I'm a little annoyed with her. I wound up going shopping then. Bath and Body Works has gotten rid of the product I was planning on getting as a gift for someone, Borders just didn't have what I was looking for for Julie, and by the time I got to Michaels, the store was going to be closing in 4 minutes. I had just enough time to grab my beads and run to the check out line. Then I went home and produced a new necklace.
Thursday: I ran some errands for my mother in the morning, then finished my movie with Julie. After that I went outside to play with my dog for a bit. We were playing tug of war with his robe, and while lunging for it, he bit my hand. Which hurt quite a bit for the rest of the day and bruised up really badly. Dinner was alright. Mom didn't make stuffing though, so I was a little disappointed. My sisters and I played a great game of Monopoly, ending with my older sister having a hissy fit because I beat her for once.
Friday: I went out for lunch with Julie, then we went to see Happy Feet, which is an adorable movie. That evening, my mom and I went to see my grandma again, who was in a good mood this time. Then we went shopping at target. I got some presents for different people, and I got The Very Best of Nickle Creek. Which makes me quite happy. Their music is so calming and pretty. Track #6, Somebody More Like You, is by far the best. When we got back, my uncle was there, bringing us a replacement Sega Saturn he had gotten to replace the one that Julie broke, he also brought a bunch of movies for Jessica to watch. On the top of that stack was Shrek 2, making me very happy. I stayed up past midnight watching that.
Saturday: This was actually a rather interesting day. We had the Martin Christmas dinner that day. I got my $20 from grandma, which always makes me happy. A good portion of the Martins did not show up. Sadly, this makes me quite happy. I feel guilty about that though, because I know that I shouldn't be that way. I was happy to see most of the relatives that showed up though, especially my one cousin and his wife. They live in Maine, so we do not see them often, but she is an awesome person, so I was very happy to hear that she'd be there. Jessica also took her boyfriend to the dinner. She was so uptight about it, it really was hysterical. Yes our family is a little odd, the trick is to embrace the oddities. The fact that my family is different, is a major factor in why I love them as much as I do. And I really do adore them all. After that, we went home, Julie and I watched Shrek 2, yes, that was the second time watching it for me. Then we played video games for a bit too.
Sunday: Well, my dad has recently become very disenchanted with the church we've been attending for the past several years. The pastor rarely preaches, and my dad likes to hear a good message when he is actually home on a Sunday, so this has been bugging him for quite some time now. This morning we went to a new church. I really liked it. It was a more contemporary service, very energetic, and seems to have a really good youth program, which is a good thing for Julie. Unfortunately, it just wasn't quite traditional enough to suit my parents. So I doubt they will be returning to it. After that, I played video games with Julie a little more, had lunch, then packed my bags and came back to school. I've been here since about 3:15. I'm actually happy to be back, and was thrilled to see my friend, who lives down the hall from me. I did a little studying with her and her boyfriend out in the lounge after supper. For the rest of the evening i think I'll just take it easy. I plan to work on this blog a little. I'm not totally happy with it's current look.
